So at work we are able to change the music and a co-worker stopped me and said “sorry can’t let you it’s black history month” and I replied saying that I’m aware, the song I was trying to play was La Rebelion; my co-workers are unaware that I’m Afro-Colombian and said that the music I tried to play was going to disturb theirs. They tried to say my music wasn’t black enough, I tried explaining about the culture that was made in colombia from the slaves that were brought by spaniards but they decided to walk away, laughing, and mocking me saying I wasn’t really black. It’s sad to see how ignorant people can be about certain things.
