You can choose not to rape children, but you can’t choose to eliminate the attraction. You can’t just control your own brain’s arousal reactions like that, humans simply do not function that way.
You can control your own brain’s arousal because YOU ARE YOUR BRAIN. In the same way that you can actively decide to not view women as objects you can also actively decide to not sexualize children.

It’s an ongoing struggle, but these thoughts are not something that “just happen.” You can alter these desires and decide to not enjoy certain thoughts or fantasies by repetitively countering them with negative feelings. I think it takes time to unlearn things. Pedophilia is not a harmless attraction. You can have these thoughts and not act on them, but it does not change the way you interact with children or the way you view children. If you constantly associate it with being “disabled” or as being part of an unconscious - you have no reason to criticize your desires.
