I just saw this on Twitter. This happened in my township. This is ridiculous. Someone snapchatted this girl and called her Isis because of what she was wearing and the school district decided that this is not harassment or bullying. How?!?!?! THIS IS A HATE CRIME. The school (Colonia High School) told her that she shouldn’t talk about this on social media. This is islamophobia. It’s gross when someone can’t even get an education without being harassed for his or her religion. That tweet is quickly gaining popularity on Twitter and rightfully so. This is just proof that we have to do something about the rampant islamophobia in this country.
I’m ashamed of living in this fucking town
This is disgusting
That anti-bullying bill of rights needs to be updated. Photos on social media with slurs or derogatory terms are extremely hurtful, and common with social media being so accessible and popular.
Let’s boost this so the school learn how to properly deal with nonsense like this. Trying to gag a poor student after she complains about being bullied. Foh

@acambridge Yeah, I guess people are just scared of others who are different. Honestly, when my dad first told me not to wear a hijab, I started crying because I thought I was being a bad Muslim, but he told me that god was understanding and forgiving. I really wish that Society was different, but there are always going to be people who don’t understand, and people who don’t have the kindest intentions. All we can really do, is protest and hope for a better future. ❣️
