This is Katy. We were friends in middle school. My best friend lived a few minutes from her in Seattle. Katy attended University of Washington. She loved classic rock, art, and the outdoors.

On Sunday 3/20/2016, Katy was beaten and strangled by her boyfriend. When the police forced themselves into her apartment and pulled him off of her, she had no pulse. On Tuesday 3/22/2016, Katy passed away from her injuries.

Katy had aced her neuroscience final just a few days before. She also had recently been accepted into a program where she would teach English in Barcelona.

Katy was a beautiful girl with so many amazing things she will now never be able to do. In light of her passing, her parents and siblings have set up a gofundme to raise money so they can sprinkle Katy’s ashes in Spain. Once their trip is funded they will be donating whatever is left to help victims of domestic violence and want to set up scholarships in her name.
