I heard tales that they microwave the water like barbarians

I swear you guys are fucking with me now! why would you microwave water when you can just use a cheap little kettle??

I have an electric kettle and I hardly ever get it out of the cupboard. It was like $20. I used it in undergrad when I didn’t have a microwave or stove.

Pasta: stove

Everything else including tea: microwave.

Coffee: coffee maker.

Occassionally I’ll decide I want French press coffee and I’ll get it out for that. But I feel like it takes longer than the microwave which takes 2 minutes.

an electric kettle does not take longer than 2 mins…water boils faster than in a saucepan…and microwaving water is just so bizarre…coffee makers sound like hassle…idk it’s just so alien to me I use the kettle for everything

I am american and I use a kettle. One you sit on the stove. I mean I use it for tea and making instant ramen mostly. But like My whole family makes sure to have a kettle of some sort. Like most Black Americans I know have a kettle too.  I hate using my microwave to heat water, mostly cause it doesn’t stay as hot as kettle boiled water.

Also I use a kettle to boil water to wash dish.

I’ve only ever seen stovetop kettles in youtube videos and on posh people’s agas

My flat mate has one of those coffee things that’s half kettle half coffee maker that goes on the electric hob, but we also have 3 electric kettles in our flat! We’re from the uk tho so idk if that counts, but I am honestly so confused that anyone would use the microwave because every time I’ve tried to use one to heat a drink it’s never worked????

Being a Hispanic American, we own kettles mostly for making tea and instant coffee, but like when we don’t use it we just get a pot with a curved lip and use that.
