#As golden light streams into her eyes  #Rose Tyler can see everything  #and the timeline that stands out most  #is what might have been.  #A blue box on a street corner  #with railing built around it  #unmoved over time even though the city has morphed and remade itself many times over.  #But even before that are the days a young blonde comes to the doors  #unmarred by age at first and then chipped and peeled  #whispering ‘Please’.  #The blonde grows older  #and comes less frequently for a while  #and when she does it’s with bags in tow  #groceries or toys  #trappings of a life she never really wanted to have  #and then she’s older still  #blonde no longer  #her hair silvered and her walk a slower gait  #and she puts her hands on the doors and whispers ‘I’m sorry’  #and then there’s the last visit  #now stooped with age  #hair pure white  #she leans her head against the doors and says ‘Please let him have lived’  #but the box doesn’t open or answer  #so she stands there in the cold and makes wishes about a future she might have had  #but then the timeline is gone  #and Rose can see everything  #and she has somewhere to be  #somewhere beyond the future that might have been (via lotsofthinkythoughts)
